Unhappy AVI convertion problem....HELP....

when converting avi to dvd, computer keeps stopping and throwing up errors sayin WinAvi exe, divx.dll, divxdec.ax, all codecs are installed and workin correctly, these errors are thrown up while usein winavi. When useing other convertors such as tmpgenc it throws up the error mpgvout.004,libavcodec.dll.All codecs are from original sites (divx.com for ex) they are all good quality films and when i use gspot, they all render perfectally, and the films play on all my players(wmplayer, nero, ect)I have checked all codecs are installed in crogramme\files,and all drivers are updated, i have even re formatted, loaded xp and the basics i need to convert, still no joy(same errors).I have even tried different copies of software(still the same)the films convert lovely on my laptop and friends pc. Apart from takein a lump hammer and smashing the base unit up i really dont know what else to try, would appreciate any help.THANX
comp.spec amdathlon XP 3.2+
