Default Is AVG free?

Just hooked up my new rig to the internet. I need an anti virus thing on it. So is AVG free for ever to use?

but i would get spybot search and destroy and lavasoft adaware too because more often than not you get adware and spyware not virus

The best anti-spyware program out there is Microsoft's Anti-Spyware Beta. You can get that at the microsoft website. I would also get LavaSoft's Ad-Aware. Using two different anti-spyware programs will pick up more spyware than just using one. The reason is because both programs have different definitions for spyware files and they will detect more if they work together... just a friendly suggestion!
