Default Re: AV and Firewall

I would recommend my current setup on my PC:

AntiVirus - AVG Free Edition (Free)
http://free.grisoft.com/

Firewall - ZoneAlarm (Free Edition)
http://www.zonelabs.com/free_za_download

If you are looking for any anti-spyware products I also suggest these programs:

Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition
http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/

Spybot Search & Destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org/

I have all of those on my rig... instead of ZoneAlarm free, I have the purchased version ZoneAlarm Pro.

Spyware
Webroot Spysweeper v. SunServer CounterSpy

Antivirus (Is Clam AV any good? It's free...)
McAffee v. Avast v. Nod32 v. Norton

Firewall/Overall Security Suite
McAffee v. Zonelabs

Also check out BitComet Defender, the top-rated AV on PCworld.

See above.

Avira is free. And insane powerfull. I just dont understand something - When you scan, it comes up with warnings, and doesnt show you them. And I go look at the log, and they are only warnings because they cant be opened.

ZA, trust me. Ill get you pro if you want.

Avira looks great, but that problem makes my decision in using it dubious... I can imagine it driving me crazy. Plus, if you don't know what it's deleting (assuming that it detects, doesn't show you, and deletes), it could be a file you need.

I got ZA Pro already... well I guess since I already got it, I don't need to put the Firewall thing up.

Wait, when you said "When you scan, it comes up with warnings, and doesnt show you them", what does that mean?

Oh, sorry. What I ment by that is it doesnt show them at the time, like it would an actual threat, such as a virus.

You need to open the report after the fact to find the warnings.
