it sounds like speed stepping to me, the computer is not shutting down because of the cpu, there's no such thing as an OS automatically overclocking a computer, it's shutting down because he's trying to run a game that was released a few months ago on integrated graphics, that right there is videogameFAIL at it's finest, tell him to get a decent video card and maybe a new psu (depending on the card he gets) and he should be okay...

my son played MW (the first one) and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky) with an 8600GT, all the eye candy wasn't there, but he didn't care, he just wanted to play, he now plays his games (MW2 included) with a 9600GT...
