The X1950 XTX is rumored to have at least 7% performance increase over the X1900 XTX. That 7% is pretty damn good considering the X1950 is basically the R580 core but matched with super-fast GDDR4 RAM.

Nope. Like Ownage said, the R600 is ATI's DirectX 10 card. The X1950 is just to transition over to GDDR4.

looks sweet but what I don't get is why would they make it look all pretty like that if it is just going to be inside a computer where you can't see it.

Ever heard of case windows? Becides, the real purpose of that cooler is to be quiet and cool efficiently, but there's nothing wrong with making it looks stylish at the same time.
