Default The ATi Radeon HD 3870

This is one bad a** GPU.

I'm thinking when I rebuild my desktop, I'm definitely going to put some investment into this baby.

@ $249.99 the ATi Radeon HD 3870 has a much higher performance then the 8800GT and is around half of the price but still better then the GTS in my opinion.

The specs on this thing are pretty wicked...

Manufacturer: ATi
Series: Radeon HD 3k
GPU: RV670
Release Date: 2007-11-15
Interface: PCI-E 2.0 x16
Core Clock: 775 MHz
Shader Clock: 775 MHz
Memory Clock: 1125 MHz (2250 DDR)
Memory Bandwidth: 72 GB/sec
Shader Operations: 248000 Operations/sec
Pixel Fill Rate: 12400 MPixels/sec
Texture Fill Rate: 12400 MTexels/sec
Max Power Draw: 105 W
Noise Level: Moderate
Framebuffer: 512 MB
Memory Type: GDDR4
Memory Bus Type: 64x4 (256 bit)
DirectX Compliance: 10.0
OpenGL Compliance: 2.0
PS/VS Version: 4.0/4.0
Process: 55 nm
Shader Processors: 320
Pipeline Layout: Super-scalar MADDx5
Texture Units: 16
Raster Operators 16

What are your opinions on it? Do you think it would be a good investment for a desktop or do you have another card suggestion?

Thanks-

Lol, yeah, I think Nvidia is fine, but my first GPU was an ATi and I've been in love with them ever since.

They just released this one a couple weeks ago.

All that stuff looks good on paper, but the 8800GT still performs better.

I ordered a X1900XT before. It had some artifacting issues so I tried to exchange it but they didn't have any more, so I stuck with my 6800GS until I got my 8800GTS.

Just wait until you see what ATI releases next, Its going to kill Nvidia
I Have a Brother in law that works with a company called coolit system's
they build liquid cooling systems for computer
Alienware Is there biggest buyer, most of alienwares desktops come with coolit cooling
But anyways Ati is also in with Coolit Systems, and they are going to kill every video card on the market

Don't be so sure. Nvidia's new line is something special...
