Default Ati Catalyst

Hello. I was going to download a ATI CATALYST driver form my ati Radeon 7000 64mb video card. I have heard though that the Catalyst drives can make your video card run hot and possible make it overheat and damage it. Is there any other versions of the catalyst that I can download
