( can somone help explain to me what is the difference between a SE and a PRO?) thankz :) fer reading this helpless nub

Firstly, I believe you need to run windows XP to use the new athlon 64's but I may be wrong. Secondly that setup looks good apart from graphics, the SE are budget versions of the cards and are no where near as good, I would recommend staying away from them.

ooo so no se k got that, and i got windows xp so the 3400+ shouldnt be a problem w/ windows compatability right? ty

512meg ram should be fine but make sure you get a decent type. Non-ECC preferably, and if your motherboard supports DDR400 then get that type.

can u give me some examples of good ram and does it really matter to have like a ddr400 and stuff?
ty

Depends, It makes a huge difference if you overclock, but otherwise it doesn't matter that much. Definately get PC2100 - PC2700 (DDR 166-400)

In My opininon the best mobo for an athlon 64 3400+ would be the ASUS KV8 regular or se-deluxe version, or the MSI K8T Neo or Neo Platinum.
