Default athalon processor

I have just changed my amd xp2000 for a xp2600 but on start up it is still showing up as xp2000, how do I get the pc to recognise it as a xp2600
motherboard is a Gigabyte Ga-7ZE

Make sure you have you FSB set to 166 in you BIOS.

multiplier could also cause problems... And I thought it was 133 with a 266FSB...

nah the 2600 runs on a 166/333 bus the old thouroughbred coure runs on 133/266.

I thought it was 133 with a 266FSB aswell o well

the 3200 and some 3000 run at 200/400

yea all of the 3200 and some of the 3000 run at 200/400 but most of the 3000 run at 166/333.

This board only supports 266 bus speed that what the cpu is, and I have set the clock jumper at 133 as I thought the multiplier was "by 2"
