Have a Compaq that the board died on. AMD Athlon 3800. I ordered the new board from Tigerdirect. Installed the board and made all connections and I got no power. The light on the motherboard was on but nothing would power on. I tried it with the peripheral cards uninstalled, without memory, etc. Nothing. Then I happened to read a review about the board on Tigerdirect where a guy had a problem with the board not powering on when the 12v 4-pin connector was hoooked up. So I unhooked that connector and I got power. The manual for the board said that a 300 watt psu is needed or it could cause that exact problem. Mine was a 250 watt so I picked up a new 400 watt psu and installed it but it does the exact same thing. No power with the 4 pin 12 volt connector but it will power up without it. Asus support was stumped. I already have a RMA number from Tigerdirect but I thought I'd throw the problem out to the masses to see if anyone has any ideas. It doesn't seem to make any sense. Thanks.
