Aol without Aol software

im sure theres a way to do it....is it possible to connect to aol broadband service without acctually having the aol software (browser ect) loaded on ya pc..connection is good software apsoultly sucks

Actually maybe, I had AOL DSL along time ago, and right after I cancelled (this was attempt 1 via verizon - not their new partnership with covad) they enabled a direct conenction with standard PPPoE, no AOL connection software needed. Dun know about the new stuff with covad though.

The AOL software indentifies you to the hub that passes you on to AOL's mainframe.
