ok i got system mechanic 6 to clean up my computer but it failed to clean up the drive. and also when myc omputer shuts down, i get "smax4pnp"-program not responding. Whats going on?! HELP!

1. Scan your computer using anti-virus
2. Scan your computer using anti-spyware
3. use the windows disk clean up Start> All Programs> Accessories>System Tools>Disk Cleanup

Yes. what soccerfan said was correct. Update your Virus proection- Do a scan - Run spyware scanner (spybot, adaware). Then use the system disk checker.. If all else fails, do a repair install of XP (thats if your using Xp) Repair install will only install your system files again, not delete personal Stuff. google that error of your to find out more aswell. It might be a damaged program that is doing this to your PC
