i'm very tempted to upgrade my ram. but a couple of questions

1) how much of a difference would it make? could upgrading from 3gb ram to 8gb ram increase the spees of my computing experience a lot?
2) is that around the price i should pay or wut? jw

Amazon.com: Crucial 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) CL11 SODIMM 204-Pin 1.35V/1.5V Notebook Memory Modules CT2CP51264BF160B: Computers & Accessories you might find 2nd hand stuff cheaper on ebay.

It depends on what the laptop is used for to the differences you'll see, id say its definately worth it.

As someone else just pointed out u will need 64bit windows not 32bit, as 32bit limits the ram to 3.75gbish (less than 4gb)

I5 3570k oc'd 4.3Ghz, CM hyper 212+cooler, Gskill 8gb 1600Mhz, Gigabyte 7970hd oc edition, msi z77a-g45. Samsung 830 256gb SSD, WD cavier black Hdds

Wait a minute guys. The Dell specs says 6 gigs max.
The problem with swapping out drives is you lose the recovery partition. You either clone it or buy an OEM OS disc and install that.

And since that model is a discontinued item at NewEgg and Dell, I personally would not waste the time or money on it. It's an obsolete platform.
I'd make a sweet deal to some college student and apply that toward a new system.

Keep in mind that the Friday after Thanksgiving is BLACK FRIDAY. Deals made in Heaven. That will be the time to buy a new system. So in the mean time shop around and find what you want.

True - Black Friday is coming up soon. I wouldn't put more money into an old system. If you can afford it, get a new one. Also, if you are running a 32 bit version of Windows, as a couple of other people pointed it, then it doesn't matter how much more RAM your MOBO can support.
