If you are running the 2 512 in dual channel like that before you installed the 1 gig (both in channel A), then switch one of the 512s and the 1 gig stick and try that.

I did try that, and there was no change in performance.

it will probably not run in dual channel mode due to having an odd number of ram sticks installed and them being different types of ram. you would have been better off getting 2 more 512mb (not sure if the a8n will run in dual channel then either, but it might) but yeah, its prolly not running in dual mode due to the ram config, you can run 2 sticks in dual channel and one not.

For the best performance you need to have matched sets. Not brand name but type. If you have 2 512's and 1 1gig, you are out of balance. If you want 2 gigs you either have 4 512's or 2 1 gig's.

i dont think it matters if theres an imbalance like that. they just need to be right type. unless your mobo is retarded.

Having the same brand means alot, have 2 different brands of ram can cause alot of problems. Thats probly your problem, get the exact same ram you got before, same company, same speeds.
