Default Annoying flucuation

Ok, so if any image, or program, or screen saver takes up my whole screen, my monitor gets really bright when I exit whatever takes up the whole screen. I then have to go to my properties and make any random change and then hit the defaults button for it to go back to normal brightness. It's really annoying, and it hurts my eyes.
