i'm gonna stick with the X2 series.....if someone thinks getting the X2 4000+ would be a worthwhile upgrade then you're gonna have to give me a setup...without the case and psu and keep it undder $650......I would love to get the X2 4000+ but i'm not sure where i could cut down the price good....If someone thinks its better i'll need 1GB of Ram and 80 GB hdd.....don't need a great vid card so lemme hear your best system for under $650 with an X2 processor...thanks to everyone for helpin a brother out

I like that mobo....I think it'll work really good for me....since i doubt i'll rish messing up the processor with overclocking.....ok since i got that mobo ill be able to get the OCZ performance series......So right now i got
Mobo-MSI K8N-81.50
RAM-OCZ performance(2x512)-113.44
CD drive-Lite On DVD burner-21.99
CPU-AMD X2 3800+-322.00
HDD-Hitachi deskstar 80GB-54.00
Video card-Geforce 6200 TC-59.00
GRAND TOTAL-$651.93

If you suggest that i change anything right now and keep it under budget let me know....also could you rate this setup for my needs(not much gaming but fast and reliable multitasking)Just let me know if you'd suggest anything other than these but make sure they stay in my range

That OCZ RAM is probably the best you can find for that price, latency wise. I couldn't find any other RAM that comes close to it. I think that's about the best you can do for $650. I think for general needs, it would be a 10/10. You can do just about everything with this setup.

The X2 3800+ is better than the X2 4200+. They're pretty much the same, but the 4200+ has more cache, which won't help much in games.

well the 3800+ has 2 manchester cores with 2x512KB of l2 cache
the 4200+ has 2 manchester cores and 2x512KB of L2 cache
the only difference is the 4200+ has a clock speed of 2.2Ghz while the 3800+ has a speed of 2.0Ghz

Not like it matters. You can easily overclock it. No biggie.

Try to get the Toledo core ones though...they overclock better.
