Default Re: AMD or Intel

I dunno...
for me price mathers a lot..
And.. looking from this side, I have to make a notice.
Motherboard for AMD are realy cheap nowdays, so when judgeing I allway take the price and performance of (CPU+MOBO) for comparism.

Like.. MSI K9A2 around 160 us$ now,
and.. a decent cpu for it is 180 us$ (black edition, 125Watts, 9950)

so this combo is.. ~340 us$..

this is close to a q6600 intel cpu,
thats 180 us$ atm too.
Asus P5E3 is over 300 us$.
Thats 480 us$.

According to
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/735/2/
the 2 systems are simular in performance.

Besides that.. The amd still uses ddr2 memory, I have 8Gbyte of that,
at least I don't need to throw it away..
I can upgrade the mobo, and a bit later the cpu, since am2+ accepts my exsisting dual core amd am2 cpu..

Just becouse of this, my vote was amd.
I'm sure everyone has his own reasons, mine is the good price.
(I don't need new memory, I can upgrade in 2 stepps, and its cheaper..)

that 140 us$ is indeed enough for me..
a verry good 8600gt is now ~100 us$,
if I add the ~140 us$ I did not need to spend on mobo+cpu,
I can buy an evga 9800 gtx+.

I think an amd 9950 + evga 9800 gtx+ (clock 792 mhz, memory 2300 mhz)
will preform better than
q6600 + evga 8600gt (clock 540 mhz, memory 1400 mhz)

so if I look for an upgrade, and don't want to spend too much, (wich I do, and realy planning this upgrade.. 500-600 us$ what I plan to spend)
I get off better with AMD.

If money was not a limiter I would aim for an intel, but.. I'm not a milionare.

It probably compares best to the new 65nm 6000+ X2 which is 3.1GHz and has a lower TDP. They should be similar in performance.

Depends. It's unique to every situation pretty much. Overall, Intel is faster, but AMD is good for a tight budget.

if You have more than 3-400 us$ to spend on mobo+cpu,
intel is the best for games.

If not, AMD is the best.

I just bought an E7200 for $100, and an XFX nForce 680i LT SLI board (really sweet board by the way, though it doesnt overclock as well as the P35/P45 boards, it can OC well enough for me) for $100.
All for $200, and its performing really well.

the E7200 might be clocked at 2.53Ghz, from some benchmarks i found, it was compared to the 6000+ that was clocked at 3.0Ghz, and it won most of the tests.
and the price of a 6000+ (old) was about $80-$90 (dont remember the price) and a good board for it (MSI K9A2 CF-F 790X) costs $110 at micro center.
So to me, they costs the same, and yet, it seems like the E7200 was the better deal, which is why i went with it.
I like both brands, but one thing i dont like about AMD boards is putting a huge HSF on it, and you can only face it on one direction and theres a high chance it will block 2 RAM slots, and it doesnt do that to my XFX board.

I might go back with AMD in a couple of years when i need to update my rig.

micro center has been selling the E7200 for $100 for like almost a month.
The Q6600 is $180, which is $10 less than newegg, but the tax will cover the price and might cost about $6 more, which i wouldnt mind paying just to get it right away.
Micro center compares their processors to the lowest online, so im assuming Newegg processors arent the lowest on the net so far.

from what i seen, it compares it to the Phenom X3.
Does that mean that the E7200 is better than the highest AMD Dual Cores?
in overall performance, and gaming.
for quick Comparison check www.anythinginit.com or comparindia.com

I change my vote from Intel to AMD...
I just can't wait for the AM3 socket CPU's to come out..AMD was better than I thought...
