Default AMD Fusion

THis sounds very promising. CPU and GPU integrated together. That should speed things up for budget PCs, just like how memory can be integrated with the main CPU for faster access time. Looks like it won't be available until 2009.

I'm keeping an eye on this one. If AMD plays their cards right it'll fly, if not, we'll probably have another 4x4 initiative.

I wonder if it works the same as an integrated memory controller for the Athlon 64s? I mean we all saw what memory integration do for CPUs. If the same thing happened for video cards, this should boost the performance in the video dept won't it?

"With Fusion processors, AMD will continue to promote an open platform and encourage companies throughout the ecosystem to create innovative new co-processing solutions aimed at further optimizing specific workloads."

Co-processing is the way to go in the future. The GPU is a lot more demanding, thank goodness for it's PCI-express dedicated bus on the motherboard.
