The FX60 isn't bad, but a Core 2 Duo E6600 will outperform it for around $311.

Apparently, it's excellent:

But you'd be better off spending your $500 on a Core 2 Duo E6600 and a nice Socket 775 motherboard. Much better performance for even less money:

I wouldn't get Either the E6600 or FX-60

Spend $150 and get an Opteron 165

it easily overclocks and outperforms an FX-60

I'm not into paying big bucks for high stuff, so i find ways around it

This is my opinion, but I would get an E6300, since they are only $30 more, and overclock really well too. Mine's currently running at 2.9 Ghz, but I'm not gonna push it any more until I get better cooling.

Thats great an all but he will have to get a new Board and New Ram if he does that.

The overclocked opteron will put him on the same level with the Core2Duo as well.

Sure the Core2duo is better in the long run, future proof senario.

but the S939 build is budget friendly

no no. Opteron overclocked is NOT on the same level as a C2D.

hmmm no no hey...

Toms hardware and these other guys seem to think different.

http://www.neoseeker.com/resourcelink.html?rlid=136762

http://www.neoseeker.com/resourcelink.html?rlid=137040

Also just today someone threw up some benchmark results with all these processors and the FX-60 and the E6300 were very close.

I cant find it though...

Now i'm not saying who is better or what, i am showing the facts

the E6300 and FX-60 are close in performance

but you see, you're taking the highest end dual core and comparing it to the lowest end C2D, not exactly apples to apples here. Let's compare clock for clock shall we?
