Hey,

Today i phoned a computer shop locally, and was quoting prices on these 2 processors....he told me that he would go for the $30 (AUD) cheaper 4400+ than the 4600+ because of the L2 Cache difference, i would like a second opinion, would having a 2mb cache and slower clock speed still be better than a 1mb cache with a higher clock speed?
All comments are much appreciated....

Thanks,

Matt

Clock Speeds Have Not Been able to accurately determine the speed of a Processor for some time now. Having a lower Clock Speed does not Neccessarily mean lower overall speeds.

A 2mb cache with a lower clock speed would be better than the one with a higher clock speed but lower cache. Trust me it makes a difference if you have a bigger cache. The high-end Conroes have a 4mb l2 cache and look at how much performance you can get out of them.
