AMD Announces CPU Extensions for Multicore Apps

Looks AMD is on top of things yet again. AMD and Intel have two different approaches to this, as you will find out by reading this article. I strongly believe AMD is doing the right thing and we'll see good things from them in the near future:

Good read, it's good to see that AMD may be giving Intel some competition in the future.

Yeah, there trying their best it seems, but look at this:

"The extensions, however, will not be in AMD chips for an estimated three to four years. They will not be in the upcoming AMD Barcelona and Bulldozer chips."

By that time, who knows what would have happened.

good point, a lot can happen in that time span especially when it comes to computer technology. But it's nice to see some varying approaches to utilizing multi-cores. I guess time will tell which is the better approach.

If we have to wait that long for true multicore support, that would suck. But when the time comes, whew, everything is going to be fast.

Yeah for the software out today it will be fast.

Who knows whats going to be out there in 3 to 4 years.
