Default amd 64 3200 terrible overclocking

im really dissapointed with my amd 64 3200 socket 939 winchester. no matter how much divider i put on my ram or how much voltage i put into the cpu i cant go above 2400mhz without random restarts during games. The default speed is 2000mhz. im really tempted to buy a amd 64 3200 venice, i saw a review where this cpu could do 2800mhz with the default fan and default 1.4 vcore. My psu is 520 modstream so that is not a problem. maybe i should get a 3500 venice is that a better upgrade? my 6800gt is cpu bottlenecked in cs source at 2400mhz.
