Default Amd

On the AMD web site there is a page where one can download programs for your processor.

My processor is a AMD Athlon 64 3200+ and on the box it came in there alot of features including CoolNQuiet and many more.

Now while visiting the paticular web page I came across a link to download to a program wqhich enables collnquiet and otheres such as you are able to control various settings.

Could you please give me your opinion on how important these downloads are.

PS I have heard people talking about what type of AMD Core they have eg Winchester or Venice.

What is this and how do you find out what yours is?

Default Re: Amd

nobody has talked about owning a Venice core because they are not out yet. he winchester core is the best core for overclocking (currently) thats why people buy it so they dont have to spend hundreds later for a new cpu. theres also clawhammer which is not so good at o/c but likes sub-zero temps more than winchester cores. i dunno anything about the venice cores, hopefully someone will come in and explain
