Default AM3, DDR3...but SDRAM?

all the good DDR3 compatible, socket AM3 motherboards ive seen are all meant for SDRAM. is this a common trait of AMD socket AM3 type computers or am i just having trouble finding a motherboard that supports regular RAM types?

I'm not sure what you mean by supporting "regular RAM types". All AMD socket AM3 boards support DDR3 SDRAM. If you're looking to use DDR2, you'll need a motherboard that also supports socket AM2/AM2+.

What is the difference between DDR3, DDR2, DDR, and SDRAM?

which mobos are you talking about. socket am3 are almost entirely ddr3. They might be sdram capable but I'm looking around and I don't see sdram on any of the specs.

All modern ram is sdram. It isn't usually listed as such because that's pretty much a given.

Also, am3 does support ddr2, but you usually only see that on low end boards.

I think he's confusing DDR3 SDRAM, DDR2 SDRAM, etc. for 168 pin SDRAM...

thanks for the input, im a little clearer now. this is the mobo i was looking at

http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...F615MP33&af=50
being that cheap, it leaves cash for HDD, memory and such.
