Dose an AM2 fan work with an AM3 processor?

well first i need to buy it, since i am going to get an AMD Phenom II X3 720 which is AM3, yet all i find is AM2 fans... and i just want to make sure that it works seeing as it's my first build

Well, the definite answer is that if you buy the retail version of the processor, it will come with a fan that will work so you won't have to worry about it.

Yes, that comes with a heatsink/fan.

Just so you know, Socket AM2 and AM3 coolers are interchangeable. The socket dimensions are exactly the same.
