Default Am I screwed?...

Ok, So after talking to numerous Dell support people I've confirmed that the computer I've ordered comes with a proprietary 305 Watt power supply. Worst of all, I've learned that Dell's spare parts department doesn't have a more powerful PSU for the GX620 Optiplex I ordered. I found a site that claims to have some kind of converter for Dell computers, but it converts from Dell to ATX. Is ATX just one of the numerous other companies that produces these things er what?

What I also need to know is if it's ok to install a GeForce 6800 GT video card in this computer. It recommends a 350 Watt Psu and I'm curious as to whether I can still use it in this computer.

Here's that site:

You'll need more watts, probably around 400~500. I'm PRETTY SURE that you can just buy a new PSU and put it in, since all PSUs are the same sizes.

it will fit as the board comes with a PCIe16 slot but you will probably have a heck of a time finding a power supply that will fit. I think that the PSU will be too long just off the shelf. That mobo is the flipped from the normal and that is also VERY PROPRIETARY. My suggestion is to be very very comparing in looking at the existing PSU and at the deminsions of any that you buy. Dell is notorious for thier PSU to being built odd sized.

sorry banchan, not ALL of them are built the same size

Hmm..So does anyone know if I will be able to use this video card or not? I've heard that I can probably just go ahead and use the 305 Watt PSU that comes with this computer...but I dont wanna risk it.

Oh yeah..and here's the PSU I ordered from newegg to replace the 305 Watt PSU...I ordered it before I knew about any of this though so I might have to send it back.

Even if it could which it might, you'd barely have any watts left and it's always good to have some extra watts. Get a 350-400W PSU and you'll be good.

One more time. There are 4 different versions of this thing. There is a full tower, a mini tower, a miniatx, and a microatx. Which one you getting?
