Default AK70 System Board

In the user manual it says that this board supports AMD Athlons 500 Mhz or faster.
I have a 700 Mhz Athlon and would like to upgrade.
How fast can I go, and what else should I upgrade (witch cooler).

The AK70 motherboard can only get processors up to 1 GHz (not 100% sure)

Most motherboards before Gigahertz will only get it up to around 1Ghz - its a thing to do with problems of that frequency which was not sorted until motherboards were built for it.

Im afraid all the above info is incorrect.

The M/B you have is a SLOT A, the highest chip manufactured in Slot A format, was the 950Mhz. I myself haven't seen any over 850Mhz, as by the time the Slot A 800Mhz was released, the Socket A processors arrived and started to take over.
