Default AGP Stops Windows 7 in its tracks?

ok, i have an nvidia Geforce 6200 256mb AGP slot Graphics card
but if in my BIOS i change the AGP Apature size to 4mb (disabled) my Ram incresses (i expected that)
What i didnt expect is that my GFX Card apears to run off of this value...
is this normal for an AGP card? if not, what can i do to fix it?
Specs: 4GB DDR RAM / 18.5 in. LCD Monitor / 52x CD Drive / Windows 7 / 8GB VRAM / NVIDIA 6200 256MB AGP Graphics Card / Soundmax Internal Sound Card
