Default Advice on sound cards?

is this a good sound card.......i know i need 7.1, not exactly sure what it means. I know alot about computer parts compared to the average person, but sound cards are what confuddle me, ok i know 5.0 used to be good, 6.0 is alright and 7.1 is what i want, and 24-bit sound is good?

7.1 means that there are 7 satellite speakers plus subwoofer. More channels for sound creating better sound effect. That card you linked is very very cheap.

Get this one if budget comes to mind:

It's 24-bit digital audio, but not Dolby Digital like the ones below.

Every speaker is a 1 and every sub woofer is a 0.1
