Default Advice about my wattage

Okay, so if I heard well, my mother wants to buy me my new PC. I honestly don't mind, because I'm going to be 70 years old at that ratewhen I'll have it!!!

Oh well, here's the specs:

Pentium D 940
Abit IB9
1GB RAM DDRII-667 or I might go to DDRII-800
160GB WD SATA 300
ATI Radeon X1300
Case is not yet determined.
Nu-DDW082 DVD Burner
Good ol' FDD

400W Antec PSU with 24-pin layout and 6-pin PCI-E

That;s my PSU that I replaced caps. Runs perfect.

I've just fixed a 420W, but I feel a little concerned. I'll use my K6-2 for a run.

Now, do you think 400W's enough? Or, should I attempt to give my 420W a slap?

400 is fine if u are a bit twitchy with the 420. 420 would be btr tho. i dont see major diff. and shouldn't u get a slightly more expensive c2d?

Personally, I won't get Core 2 Duo. I'll jump to Quad core later.

Looking at a calaculator, it mentions I need 276W. If I follow them, a 300W would even be good!

You should know that Dual core counts as one CPU.

yeah 400W is going to be more than enough.
I'm running p4 3.0ghz, 2gb ddr, 6800GT on a 420W and it's fine. And I'm guessing the 6800GT needs a lot of power compared to the x1300.

That's what I thought. Thanks.
As for my 420W, I have tested the voltages, and they're good. It powered my PII no problems.
My 400W that I attempted to fix sparked in front of me. I kinda knew that 400W was enough, but since I was using stuff that was more decent, I thought it would be better to ask.
