you guys are killing me. :D i keep being told that i should wait to build a computer for the intel conroe, windows vista, and video cards with support for directX 10. but the 6+ months till those come out ( not considering the time till it comes down into my price range) i am without a gaming computer. so i figure i will build a cheap rig for gaming till i can upgrade. i'm looking to get a decent rig for the minimum of money. tell me how this stacks up.

thats a terrible comp, celeron D??? are u serious? get an amd 3200+ if u want a cheap gaming rig
I wouldnt say its terrible. Just the Celrons are exactly the best for gaming. I think you should just go with an AMD 3000+. But by going with intel now you can use the same memory when you upgrade. Hmmmm I think its ok but dont expect to play FEAR at max settings.

or the amd socket m2 comes out on june 6th which isnt to long so it would be better to wait for that then u can get urself a very nice and future proof pc

lol no even june is to long to wait for me. (<= Very Impatient Person) im aiming for cheap and decent enough to play newer games, not on high settings but on OK settings (no killer lag on FSPs). so new direction, AMD....

Same video card, case, and hdd as listed above but after reading the reviews about the psu provided with the case i'll replace it with this

even this is more than i would like to spend but i don't want a totally crap computer, so....any better?

seriously man, i would wait. if you're gonna spend your money now, keep saving! imagine how much you could have by june, and you'll have so much of a better PC. i'm still saving up. i have like $540 now, and i'm gonna work over the summer, hopefully, and i should make around $800-$1000, and then i'll buy a great PC that would last me for years. my advice to you is to wait. the 3200 is a great processor, don't get me wrong, but i would still wait after june. when that time comes, you'll say to yourself that you should have waited, because its gonna be so much more worth it, trust me

if you want to be dirt cheap, that celeron D would suffice. Those are not terrible for games, they just don't rape them like an AMD would. Celeron D CPUs can play new games at a perfectly acceptable framerate (atleast to those who don't bitch about getting 30 fps)

Wait, you will only regret it when all the new sockets start being used more and more, and your stuck with your 939 - seriosley - wait!
