Id go for the athlon..

Yea the Athlon would blow that thing away in gaming. If you're a gamer go with a 3700. And about overclocking, the 3700 won't overclock as much as the opetron, but it will game alot better. Plus, if you want to overclock for anything witha noticeable difference, you need maybe 4 to 7 fans, or a liquid cooling system. Plus, the Opetrons are over priced.

what do u mean better at gaming? doesnt the vid card take most of that?

the vid card takes some of it but the cpu has to process the textures and so on then the vid card draws it at least thats how i think it works

i dont really understand why an athlon 2.2GHz would do better than an opteron 2.2GHz can anyone explain?

The Opteron is better. The Opteron will process much more data then the Athelon 3700+ will. Take that Opteron 148, overclock it to like 2.6GHz or higher, and just go crazy in games! Either way, you'll be playing all the games on the market and very respectable settings.
