does he mean that he spent $400 on the cpu and mobo as well? and go for the 8600gts youre buying a gpu thats a generation behind if you go for the x1950

I'd go for the X1950PRO. In a short amount of time, the 8600GTS won't even be fast enough to keep up with the DirectX 10 games. At least with the X1950PRO you can probably still run them with high settings in DirectX 9.
