7800 on x8 not x16 ?!?!

why is my 7800gt running on pci x8 and not x16 !?!?!

yes thats right, each connector gets x8 speed the x16 gets split between the two on most sli boards or so i've been told, i have a Neo 4 Platinum SLI board and each of the 6600gt's are running at 8x too so that must be it

Well it depends. How does your motherboard switch from SLI to Single Card? Jumpers? Paddle swtich? Software? Because it's only split because it's in SLI mode. Unless you have the SLI X16 motherboards, each PCI-E slot is split into 8X each instead of 16X for each. However, if you only have one card, you can just put the motherboard to Single Card mode and that single PCI-E will have full 16X.
