Erm... Probably not. But its very close. I think the 9800 Pro does beat the 5900; if only by a little.

Depends which is cheaper and whether you prefer nVidia or ATi mainly.

the 9800 pro 256 mb runs at 700 because of the 256mb so it is faster but only by a insignificant amount unless you obsess over fps

Yeah; efficency over pure speed I think is the general idea. Most of us can't see more than 60 fps anyway - so it doesn't really matter!

9800pro is slightly faster than the 5900XT. I used to have the gainward 5900XT golden sample, with the overclock (standard on gainward GS). It was Just about the same speed.

For no problem gaming go Nvidia.
