5.1 Ectiva sound card problems

I have just purchase a cheap set of 5.1 surround sound speakers and an Ectiva 5.1 sound card.I have loaded on the drivers and plugged in the speakers as directed in the instructions. Then I put a DVD in and try to watch it using 5.1, all my setting are set to use 5.1 but only one channel on the soundcard produces sound? I have tried to play the DVD using Windows Media Player and Power DVD, both only produce one channel of sound the standard green one? Does anyone know why this is happening?

Well it could be a # of thing's... my comp. speaker's did that to me once, and it turned out to be a loose connection in the back..

ok, this is a long shot but here goes, right click the icon in the bottom right corner that looks like a little speaker... in one of those two menu's you can configure your sound card & options...
