Default 3x PCIe 16x

Why do some newer mobo's come with 3 PCIe 16x slots? Is this to set up multiple screens? I know u cant SLIx3, so why else are these created.

Nope. Its for the newer type of cards that'll arrive in Direct X 10. Graphics cards will become used for physics and other type of non-usual GPU processes for games, and to speed the process up, will allow 3 cards.

2 to run the games graphics and one for example to run the physics.

It can still be done with 2 though, with both cards running physics with the graphics.

ATI's version of this is called Triple Play:
