Default 3DMark Vantage Difference

Does the quad core make that big of a difference

My friend uses a q6700 overclocked to 3ghz.
I run a E8400 at 3ghz..

Our CPU scores are 29464 and 5895 respectively. Is this difference normal

HOLY crap thats a huge difference. um i suppose it would make a difference if Vantage utilizes 4 cores (which i think it does)

I've never used 3DMark Vantage. I've only used the other ones (DX9) .. and I have to say, from those scores it seems as though you're not quite looking at the CPU scores because the difference should be no way near that great. Or, you're using different 3DMark versions. Either way, the processors are very comparible ... although as the previous guy said if it utilises quad core than sure ..

He's running the physics tests on his GPU, not the CPU, like I did: http://www.computerforums.org/showthread.php?t=73761
