If you can afford it skip the xp and go with the 64. I could be wrong but from what I understand there is a fairly large performance increase from xp to 64! Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If by 64 you mean Windows XP 64-bit Edition, then yes it is much better - problem is and the reason I still have Professional is that it is not the same; it is a Beta and the performance difference if not comparable to the loss of the XP Blue, the Graphics and the usage.

Also, you have to download 64-bit Edition; as it only comes with Intel Itaniums from HP. And its not a small download.
