If it's a good quality power supply, then the 850 watt should do the trick.

Well considering all of the PSU's that I have seen to be tested and certified for three way SLI are at least 1100 watts with the average being 1200 watts.

So I would say that you need at least an 1100 watt power supply.

Will three high end video cards really make things look any better?

After doing more research there is one 800 watt certified power supply, but here is the official website with all of the approved power supplies.

The Tagan BZ800 800 Watt PSU is certified by Nvidia for 3 way SLI: Power Supplies for GPUs that support NVIDIA SLIŽ and Hybrid SLI technology.

From what I've read, the gain in 3-way SLI compared to 2-way SLI is very little.

Sorry to steal the thread. But, will a 650W power supply be enough for 2 GTX260 Core 216 in SLI?

650 may be pushing it. The lowest recommended on the SLI Zone is 750.
