256mb 6800 pci-e?
I've just ordered a new computer with an Nvidia 6800 pci express graphics card (256mb). I've never come across this particular card before and was wondering if anyone new anything about it, how it compares to a standard agp 6800 and more importantly, is it any good?

Re: 256mb 6800 pci-e?
2x as fast, wider bandwith. But, since it's so new, the cards today don't use PCI-E to it's full capacity, so you might as well save yourself some money and go with AGP.

Re: 256mb 6800 pci-e?
yea, dat's because the 6600GT is native PCIe.

Re: 256mb 6800 pci-e?
thats b/c agp mobo's are outdated. You shouldnt be buying them anymore. Obviously they drop the prices when the newer technology comes out. ANd YES PCIe cards ARE cheaper than AGP equivalents. Do a search man.

Re: 256mb 6800 pci-e?
Actually, it depends. Since the 6600 GT is native PCI-E, it would cost more to convert it to AGP. But since the 6800's came out native AGP, it would cost more to convert it to PCI-E. BTW AGP isn't outdated. It's perfectly fine.

Re: 256mb 6800 pci-e?
Yeah in most benchmarks when u compare a say a 6600gt agp to a 6600gt pci-express they are both pretty much even!!
