2 videos cards or 1 ?

Which set up would perform the best, a single Nvidia 6800 Ultra or two 6600 cards in SLI?

the singel 6800 is more powerful. get this only if u are getting an sli board, the sli board will leave room for another 6800 ultra. btw dont get the ultra, too much money, get the 6800gt and oc that bitch to 6800ultra and past lvls. i really dont know how this is because i have 2x6600gt's getting 15.7k in 3dmark03 and yet a single 6800ultra does not get this much so i dunno but i've always heard the single 6800 would be better

Two 6800gt's is cool but I felt that two lower end 6600's compare better with a single 6800 ultra. Just looking at stats they might be close but I have no clue

Nah, one 6800gt will outperform if not be on par with dual 6600gt's. The 2 6600gt's offer an 80% increase over a single card solution... so yeah. You're better off with a 6800gt or better yet a 7800gtx from xfx. Such a sweet card... lol... 24 pipelines ass opposed to 16 and better clocking speeds too... lovely.

ah...my 6600gt's smack a single 6800gt senseless, 15.7k 3dmark03. also not an 80% increase but can on some games give a 2x increase.

Well, I never said oc'ing... If I oc'ed a 6800gt senseless, I could almost achieve 2.5x. With a liquid cooled gpu, I could so far past any benchmarks, almost to a 7800gtx. If I ever could use phase change cooling... haha dual 7800gtx.. think about that. But yeah. Money_man, I'm positive your dual 6600gt's (oc'ed) could smack any stock 6800gt.
