Default 2 video cards, 2 monitors?

I have on board video. Don't do any gaming, so it is fine. I want to hook up another monitor to my PC, so can I add a cheap-o video card from ebay, and have it run my second monitor while my on board graphics runs the first? Or do I need 1 video card to run both monitors.

1 video card will run both monitors fine. Just make sure it has 2 DVI ports if it's new.

Yes, but the video card I want to buy is going to be a cheap-o one and probably not have 2 video outputs.

Yes I could always go with the more expensive video card that I don't need.

Those cards are better than what you chose. If anything happens to that used card, you're screwed. At least with this card you get a piece of mind. It's your choice really.

You bring up a very valid point, however, I don't do any gaming. Basically, I just love high resolutions (who doesn't?) Other than that I just dick around on the internet and such...so...a "good" graphics card is above what I need. However, the warranty aspect is a good point to look at.
