Default tv resolutions

Ive noticed a newer resolution that is now becoming fairly common with plasmas and some lcds which is 1365 x 768 or some varient of it. Is there really that big of a difference between 1280x720 and this newer resolution. Is there anything actually that uses the 1365x768 resolution? Most hdtv broadcasts are either in 720p or 1080i. so whats the deal with this newer resolution?
