Default Is there any way to make an iPod sound good?

Like the title says, is there any way I can make my iPod sound better? I don't care what it is really, Beit software or some type of sound card that plugs into the dock on the bottom. The thing is that I have three iPods and they are gettin owned by this $10 sansa clip as far as audio quality.

Edit: I am already using apple lossless format, ripped from LPs if possible, so it is not my music, and it is definitely not my headphones/stereo.

Account no longer active. Contact info available in profile, if anyone cares to reach me.

I think you need the audio technica sound burger.
For the better the sound quality, use nice qualty of Head Phones.

Using Lossy files also helps,Apple offer official lossless formats, and it is to be quite good.
