I'm using an Epson Perfection 1260 and it works fine. That newer one may be even better. The one I have have slower scans though. The Canon ones may be faster.

Yeah, thanks for your opinions guys... for scanners, this will be my first purchase. The higher the DPI, the higher the quality?

It is an important consideration. DPI are dots per inch so the more the better. The resolution also indicates how detailed the digital image will be. The higher the numbers, the sharper the scans will tend to be. This is especially important when making enlargements however, a higher resolution does not necessarily mean you'll get better color accuracy.

Looks like that will give you the best resolution out of the lot.

hey G9 i do a LOT of scanning for my drawings and paintings too sometimes, I have used a lot of epsons and Hp scanners. I even got a chance to use the 11x17 Epson GT10000 scanner. The only brand to go for is Epson for Artists, their quality is amazing. higher the dpi the better.
