I didn't see any flashware for download on the V3m model. I just assume it's strictly a Verizon model and has locked firmware. Or the noone has bothered to slipstream the firmware...Sorry. What mod were you doing to your phone? DRM's, skinning, flashing of any type?

My dad says he tried to unlock it so he could get free ringtones and be able to transfer ringtones via bluetooth

You should have used P2K Commander to access your phone. It probably isn't bricked. But you will need to find the firmware to re-flash the phone with. Make sure it's the stock firmware or firmware that has been confirmed as working with your model.
