headset...LOL missed up

OK so last night while trying to watch a movie the voices would not play, just the background noise and such (thought it was just the t0rrent). Came home today turned on some music and the voices were just static. Unplugged it from the USB and wiped the plug a little with my shirt plugged it in. Same thing could hear everything but the voice. Well grabbed the volume control to clip it to my pocket and the voice came on...turned it a little more voice went off..turned it back voice came on...

I'm thinking its just a wire...not for sure though...any suggestions?

Admins feel free to move this, could not find any other place really suitable for this one.
