Cannon are would recommend if you want to be using it for sports or moving pictures, I have a FUJI but the shutter lag is crap(fine pix s3500) father inlaw has the Fuji S9500 9m pixels brilliant for macro close ups but again crap for sports(moving pictures) my wife has a Cannon EOS 300D 6M pixels absolutely fantastic knocks the socks off the other two, father inlaw has the same 35mm version but the beauty of the digital version is the lenses are compatible with the 35mm so she did not need to buy an lenses for it she just took her dads from the 35mm lol

I'm looking for a Camera right now also, I'm leaning towards the Canon SD800IS right now.
