Differnet Options to Connect an XBOX360 to the Internet

Hello. I want to connect my XBOX360 to the internet but don't want to use the XBOX360 wireless adaptor because a) they're stupidly expensive and b) apparently they're slow. I have no ethernet socket near where i play my XBOX360. A friend recently bought a device to send the internet through electrical wires by plugging one end onto the router's electrical socket, then another next to the XBOX360 that has an ethernet socket, however this was still expensive. What are the other options? Are there any cheap USB dongles that work with the XBOX360 like the cheap ones you can get for a PC.

Run an ethernet cable to something like this and from that run another cable to your 360. Or you could get a couple one hundred foot cables and an ethernet coupler.
